The Abyei agroforest is one of the most biodiverse landscapes in East Africa. It is also unprotected, underfunded, and largely unknown outside the region. Philanthropic support goes directly to tree mapping, soil health monitoring, and the establishment of community-managed conservation zones that keep the forest intact for the next generation.

The women who harvest shea, tamarind, and wild honey in Abyei have done so for generations. They have never been paid what their knowledge and labour is worth. Support through Achai Collection funds direct income supplements, cooperative equity stakes, and savings programmes that give harvesters financial independence — not dependence on aid.

The Ngok Dinka hold centuries of ecological knowledge — which trees signal rain, which roots treat fever, which months the bees move. This knowledge is oral, embodied, and at risk. We are working with community elders and linguists to document it in Dinka, Arabic, and English — not to extract it, but to protect it in the hands of those who own it.

Hundreds of thousands of South Sudanese live in diaspora — in Nairobi, Kampala, London, Minneapolis, Sydney. Many carry Abyei in their memory and want to contribute to its future.
